Cashback and Rakeback Scoring Methodology: 7 Parameters Explained

Read the casino cashback and rakeback scoring methodology: 7 transparent parameters, how each is checked, weighting per operator type, and how scores translate to verdict tiers.

The 7 parameters we score

Every casino on Casino Cashback runs through the same 7-parameter scoring rubric. The numbers below the score badge in any review are the average of these seven sub-scores. No parameter is invented for a brand; no parameter is skipped to inflate one.

  1. Cashback or rakeback rate — the headline percentage, weighted by whether the rate is realistic at sign-up or only available at top VIP tiers.
  2. Wagering requirement — clean 0x (wager-free) scores full marks; x1, x3, x5 lose marks proportionally; anything above x10 is flagged.
  3. Payout cadence — instant, daily, weekly, monthly. Faster cadence scores higher because it limits the "one winning session cancels your cashback" pain.
  4. Max cap — the highest cashback you can claim per period. Uncapped scores full marks; tight caps are penalised relative to bankroll size assumptions.
  5. Eligible games — slots-only is penalised vs broad eligibility. Live dealer and table game inclusion gains marks.
  6. Calculation method — net loss vs gross loss (cashback) or wager vs house edge (rakeback). The cleaner the math, the higher the score.
  7. Terms transparency — how clearly the operator surfaces the four items above. Hidden caps, ambiguous game lists and VIP-only fine print all lose marks.

How weights apply

Cashback operators are weighted heaviest on rate, wagering and cadence. Rakeback operators are weighted heaviest on calculation method, VIP tier depth and cadence. The category mix on each operator's profile is what produces the final 0-5 score, scaled to 0-100 in the badge. Weights live in data/casinos.json under each operator's scores block; that file is the source of truth.

Verification process

  1. Pull the operator's published cashback or rakeback page.
  2. Open the player support chat and ask three diagnostic questions about caps, eligible games and calculation window.
  3. Cross-check the answers against the published terms.
  4. Run a small bankroll through the offer to verify cadence and credit format (cash vs locked bonus).
  5. Score, write the verdict, lock the page until the next quarterly re-verification.

Quarterly re-verification

Every operator is re-checked at least quarterly. If the operator changes wagering, caps, eligible games or cadence, the score moves and the verification date stamp updates. Pages that have been re-verified within the last 30 days carry a fresh date stamp in the byline.
